Quality office chairs with standard ergonomic features cost $200 to $400 each. Expect to pay several dollars more if you require customized materials, added features, or special order colors. Most vendors will provide volume discounts for chair quantities of 25 to 50 or more.
You can find used office chairs for a fraction of that, but you don’t know how long the chairs have been around and they may not be reliable for long-term use.
Chair vendors offer a variety of models for different uses. Here is a quick rundown of what you can expect to pay for those types of chairs:
- Executive chairs - $800 to $2,000 or more for top of the line models with genuine leather; $300 to $700 for less expensive materials like vinyl
- Stackable chairs - $40 to $90
- Metal folding chairs - $20 to $50
- Dollies for chair transport - $150 to $200
In addition to the costs of the physical chairs, you may also be responsible for shipping and assembly charges running $100 to $300 for every 50 chairs, or an hourly rate of $15 to $40.
You must allow several additional weeks for customized chairs. However, if you are buying low-end chairs or in-stock models, you may be able to get them in a week or less.
The majority of chair manufacturers offer a limited lifetime warranty that covers the first 5 to 10 years of the life of the chair. Honestly, that’s all you need. Once you get beyond 10 years, it’s more cost-effective to just buy a brand new chair with a warranty that starts from day one.
