Cubicle prices

With a systems furniture purchase, it’s important to avoid sticker shock. It will be one of the costlier furniture expenses you will incur for your business. However, consider your economies of scale. Cubicles last 10 to 20 years or longer so you’ll certainly get your money’s worth. It will also give employees personal workspace to focus on their job responsibilities and maximize productivity.

For 10 cubicles or less, you’ll pay about $800 to $2,000 each for refurbished models and $2,500 to $6,000 or more for each new unit. You’ll pay closer to the high end for cubicles equipped with electricity and other customized features. At the very low end, “as is” cubicles cost $500 to $800, but you can’t customize your options, you get no warranty, and it’s a risky purchase for long-time use.

Delivery and assembly costs will add several hundreds of dollars to your bottom line. While some vendors may include it in your purchase price, others will charge based on the weight and distance traveled.

Expect to add several hundreds of dollars to your total costs for certain types of custom fabric and design. A dealer may be able to get you a good deal on cubicles already in stock since it’s less work for them and they can pass the savings directly onto you.

Don’t forget about volume discounts. Vendors will often deduct 10% to 20% off your total costs if you purchase a certain quantity. You can also save money if you set up cubes back-to-back. That way, the cubes share a common wall and you end up spending less for the overall setup.

Most systems furniture dealers will offer a minimum three-year warranty on parts. While lifetime warranties for certain brands of cubicles do exist, it’s not common because quality cubes typically don’t have extensive problems and repair costs are minimal.

If you want to lease systems furniture, it’s a good option if you’re short on expendable cash but don’t want to skimp on quality. Most systems furniture leasing agreements are on a “lease to own” basis meaning you own the cubes after your final payment. You can also resell the cubes if you ever decide to get rid of them or refurnish your offices.
